Xpress Rent-a-Car Teaches a Skill | Sponsor Teach-a-Skill Project

Xpress Rent a Car is one of our longest standing supporters. By that virtue, they were the first to kickstart our Sponsor Teach-A-Skill Project with a beautifully handled lesson. Mr. Jawad and Mr. Audiwaas (Xpress Rent a Car’s manager and head mechanic respectively) practically guided the children in an exploration of the parts of a car’s interior, the parts of an engine, and the functions of each part. Both incredibly patient and engaging teachers, Mr. Jawad and Mr. Audiwaas encouraged the children to test out wipers, horns, dipsticks and so much more. Look through these adorable captures of the awe and excitement on their faces! They also took home branded keychain freebies. Thank you Xpress Rent a Car for this wonderful experience!

Uhuru Walk’s Sponsor Teach-a-Skill Project is aimed at enriching the children’s learning experience through a holistic exposure to both academic and vocational education. Although we are hopeful that these children are able to continue into higher education and become professionals in their desired fields, we also acknowledge that providing them with vocational education and skills training gives them the means to explore other career paths of interest, support their dreams, and be protected against poverty in the long run. All Uhuru Walk’s projects are driven to creating ‘Uhuru’ – independence for disadvantaged children by enabling them to lead self-sustaining lives that are free of dependence on others
